Upgrade for site needed

by woody » Sun Feb 14, 2010 2:28 pm

Hail to all! We have mentioned it for some time, but we are seeking to upgrade the site. The site will be up for renewal in late summer, but instead of keeping the same plan, we will be upgrading for much better features, for less money. Among these features will be unlimited bandwidth and harddrive space. We will be able to host other sites, if anyone has a site they need hosted. We will also be able to provide an IHF email address to anyone that would like one. We will be able to stream music, video, and podcasts. We can mirror other Heathen sites. We will also be able to host a chatroom, and a long list of other things. There are endless options with the upgrade.

We are asking that anyone interested in donating for the upgrade, visit http://www.irminsol.org/donate.htm and click on the Donate button. This will go through Paypal and will be deposited into an account reserved strictly for upgrading the site. After the total is reached and the site is updated, we will seek to purchase software to make even greater upgrades.

In the near future, we will be gathering all we need to begin the paperwork on forming a 501(c)(3) organization. More details on that will come.

Thor Blot cancelled

by woody » Fri Feb 05, 2010 11:39 am

Due to recent weather, Thor Blot is called off. The roads are icy in the higher country, and our yard is a mud pit. It is supposed to rain and freeze the entire weekend. We will begin scheduling the next Blot.

New AFA Blot Book

by woody » Tue Dec 01, 2009 10:09 am

This is a post that I got from the AFA forum. AFA has been getting Blots and other rituals from members in order to create a book with a little bit of everything. I've not had the chance to order it yet, but will as soon as my money starts flowing again. It can be downloaded, or a hard copy ordered. The link is in the quote. If any of you are like me, you like the hard copy, but even a file is good because it can be printed out. I like obtaining various rituals so that I can get new ideas and make my own.

Asatru Folk Assembly Ritual Book Ready for Yule!

Many of you have asked for it, and now it's here, just in time for the Yule season - the rites of Asatru as practiced by members of the AFA! This book is a collaborative masterpiece made up of contributions from members and ordained clergy of the Asatru Folk Assembly.

Steve McNallen's Odin blot is included, as are blessings to Ostara, Thor, Ullr, Freya, Vidar and many other deities . There are ceremonies for blessing land, marrying couples, naming babies, recognizing comings-of-age, and much more! All in all, this brand-new book is filled with eighteen rites honoring the Gods and Goddesses of Asatru, as well as rituals for every occasion. You can use them as they are, customize them for your personal use, or let them inspire your own creativity.

The book is a solid 135 pages, and comes in a practical coil-bound paperback format that will lay flat for ease of use. Or you can download it as a PDF!

Downloads

Kael started a Download section, from the Site Index. We have gotten several new files uploaded to it but it is linked directly to the download page. One day, I'll figure out how to upload so that it will be downloadable from the first page.

That is all.

AFA Folkbuilder for SC AND NC

by woody » Tue Aug 04, 2009 6:27 am

OK everyone, for personal reasons, the SC Folkbuilder had to step down from the position, and I was asked if I wouldn't mind taking on duties for both states. I already have contact with some in SC, so I took the job. I'm NOW the Folkbuilder for SC, as well as NC. Maybe, I'll be able to get even more activity going. We'll see.

Avatar Gallery

by Kael » Sun Jul 12, 2009 10:25 pm

You'll notice that if you haven't set an avatar for yourself, there's a "No Avatar" image in it's place. I've uploaded some avatars to the Avatar Gallery. You can set an avatar by going to your User Control Panel and going to the Profile > Edit Avatar menu option. From there you can either use one of the avatars we have in the galleries (there are several galleries to chose from), link to an off-site avatar, or upload your own. You can also edit your signature from the Profile > Edit Signature menu option in the User Control Panel. I'm sure many of you already knew how to do all of this, but for other users who may not be as familiar with phpBB3's options, I felt this would be a good thing to cover. Thanks

Things look a bit different.

by Kael » Sat Jul 11, 2009 11:25 pm

Alright, so those of you who are returning members will notice that the site is completely different now. There are some features that are no longer on the site, and still others that are completely new, like the ability to add users as friends, for example. There are a few features that are not here at the moment, but will be returning, like the gallery. Some will most likely not be returning, because they were never used on the old site, like the events calender. Also you'll notice that there are a few more forums than there were before. Some, like the News forum, you can only read unless you are an admin. But take some time and familiarize yourself with the new site and forum. And if you've got any suggestions that could help improve this site, please feel free to let us know about them.
Thanks

New Site, New Forums.

by Kael » Sat Jul 11, 2009 10:16 pm

The old site was no longer secure or reliable, so we have removed it to make room for this brand new site and forums. Unfortunately if you had an account on the old site, it was lost in the renovation, so you'll have to register a new account. We hope many of you will return to the forums so we can continue to have fellowship with you. Thanks
